Obituary

CYNTHIA D. (SCHAFER) ARTRIP Cynthia Denise Artrip, 61, of Bethesda, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Barnesville Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on February 23, 1954 to Mary Ellen and Paul D Schafer of Bethesda. Cindy graduated from Union Local High School in 1972 and received her nursing degree from Wheeling Hospital in 1975. She worked at Barnesville Hospital as a registered nurse. Cindy is survived by her husband of 36 years, Bill Artrip. She will be missed by her children, Chad (Sara) Artrip of Fredonia, New York and Alison (Paul) Ricca of Dublin, Ohio; her father, Paul Schafer of Bethesda; brothers, David (Teresa) Schafer of Bethesda and Douglas (Elaine) Schafer of Belmont. Cindy held an extra special place in her heart for her four grandchildren, Delaney and Jack Artrip, Vincent and Joseph Ricca. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Evelyn Artrip of Wheelersburg, Ohio; sister-in-law, Debbie (Gary) Skeans; brother-in-law, Homer (Debbie) Artrip; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her mother, Cindy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Frank and Mary Schafer, Cyril and Grayce Doughtery; and her beloved dog, Dillon. Cindy was known as a very loving and compassionate person, which was reflected in her 40 years of nursing. She treated each patient under her care with the love, care, and respect she would give her own family. She loved all of the moments she spent with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, that made her life so complete. Family and friends are welcome to visit, Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m., Kelly Kemp Braido Patron Funeral Homes & Crematory, 322 N. Main Street, Bethesda, Ohio, where the service for Cindy will be conducted, Friday 11 a.m. Reverend Tom Detling officiating. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery, Bethesda, Ohio. Cindy's family is extremely grateful for the wonderful care given to her by the doctors, nurses, and staff of Barnesville Hospital.
