Dale D. Knutsen, Sr. Dale D. Knutsen, Sr., 80, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH and Wheeling, WV died Wed., Jan. 23, 2002 at Forest Hills Retirement Community, St. Clairsville, OH. He was born Sept. 23, 1921 in St. Clairsville a son of the late Thomas C. and Elizabeth L. Pickens Knutsen. He is the retired Executive Director of the former Martins Ferry Metropolitan Housing Authority, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, and a veteran of the U.S. Army WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Catherine E. Tierney Knutsen and three brothers Bert, Howard, and Bart Knutsen. Surviving are two sons Dale D. Knutsen, Jr. and his wife Barbara and Jeff Knutsen all of Wheeling, two daughters Sandy Myers and her husband William of Martins Ferry and Debbie Tobin and her husband Mike of Marysville, OH a brother Clyde Knutsen of Titusville, PA, and ten grandchildren including David A. and Chris R. Myers, Aeleen M, Eric M., Danny D., Ashley, and Carly Knutsen, and Matthew M., Luke T., and Michael C. Tobin, and three great grandchildren. Friends will be received Fri. 12-3 & 6-9 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Sat. at 10:00 AM at St. Marys Catholic Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. Thomas Magary officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Rosary devotions will be held Fri. at 3:00 PM followed by Wake services at 8:30 PM in the funeral home.
