Obituary

Dale Albert Zink, 63, formerly of Brookside, went home with the Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Cumberland Pointe Care Center, St. Clairsville, OH. Dale was born October 7th, 1952 in Wheeling, WV. He graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1971 and served in the U.S. Army from 1971-1979 in California, Louisiana, and Germany. Dale was an avid reader and especially enjoyed science fiction, politics and history. While in the Army he attended school in Monterey, enjoying the Pacific Ocean and visiting with his mother's family in San Gabriel; in Louisiana he experienced Cajun food, frog legs, gumbo, fishing on the sides of roads and riding his motorcycle. While in Germany, he experienced German foods and enjoyed the small towns, friendly people and culture of his German heritage. He travelled the Audubon with friends where they had a great time skiing in Austria; he loved the snow-covered mountains. In October 1978 he flew to London, England to get his sister at the airport and they experienced two weeks of the sights and sounds of London: traveling the underground, Hyde Park, The River Thames, St. Paul Cathedral, Dicken's House & Old Curiosity Shoppe, Madam Tosseau's Wax Museum, Big Ben, The Tower of London, many museums, small restaurants and shops. They celebrated their October birthdays together and even passed a man in the middle of the sidewalk standing on a box shouting his socialist views, something not seen in Bridgeport, Ohio! He lived and worked in Tampa, Florida for several years after the Army before returning to Brookside. Dale is preceded in death by his father, Albert E. Zink of Bridgeport and his brother-in-law David Lude of Belmont. Surviving are his mother, Zelda Zink of St. Clairsville, his sister Gail Lude of Belmont, nephew Joshua (Andrea) Lude of Belmont, nieces Laura (Aaron) Graham of Cincinnati and Joy Lude of Camp Hill, Pa; great nephews Daniel and David Lude and Nathan Graham; a great-niece Valorie Graham. Friends will be received on Wednesday April 6th from 1pm until time of service 2pm at Wilson Funeral Home in Brookside, OH with Pastor William Marinelli officiating. Interment at Belmont Memorial Park, St. Clairsville, with full military graveside conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association. Since Dale had been a supporter of Wounded Warrior Projects before his stay at Cumberland Point, a donation may be given in his memory in lieu of flowers, if desired. Our special thanks to all at Cumberland Pointe Care Center who welcome him 2 A½ years ago and took exceptional care of him, both medically and personally. Also thanks to Amedisys Hospice for coming in and tending to his final needs. Above all we praise our Lord Jesus Christ who is ever faithful to receive everyone who calls upon his name!
