Obituary

Daniel Walter Ellis, 77, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 5, 2021. He was born July 22, 1944, in Martins Ferry a son of the late William Earl and Nellie (Dugan) Ellis. He retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Martin Ferry Plant after working for 37 years. He gave 17 years of service to our country in the Navy and Army Reserve. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Bridgeport.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, George (Mary Ellen) Ellis, Elizabeth "Betty" (Russell) Eden, Charles Ellis, William "Bill" (Betty) Ellis, Richard "Dick" (Pat) Ellis and Margaret Ann (Ellis) Kelly.

He is survived by his wife, Bernadine (Koci) Ellis who he was married to for 53 years on November 23; daughters, Heidi Ellis, and Tammy (Tony) Kopyar; grandchildren, Zoe Ellis and Brandon Smigle, Sophie Kopyar, Saddie and Savannah Kopyar and Sebastian Lewis (Craig Lewis); brother, Frank "Bob" (Phyllis) Ellis; brother-in-law, Thomas Kelly and sister-in-law, Nancy Ellis; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10 am in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Father John Mucha officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
