Obituary

Daniel W. Laslo, Sr., 90, of Beacon House, St. Clairsville, OH, formerly of N. 10th St., Martins Ferry, OH died Wed., Aug. 1, 2007 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV. He was born July 14, 1917 in Beech Bottom, WV a son of the late Steve and Agnes (Orosz) Laslo. He was retired from the Martins Ferry Plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel and a veteran of the U.S. Army WWII. Dan was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and the Hungarian-American Cultural Society both of Martins Ferry, and OPALS of Wheeling. He was also well known in the Ohio Valley as a lifelong fiddle player with a love for Country and Hungarian music as well as old time classics. He played with several local bands and participated in many competitions. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Margaret J. (Petrash) Laslo, two brothers John Laslo and Steve Laslo, Jr., a sister Helen Albert. Surviving are three sons Daniel W. (Cynthia) Laslo, Jr., of St. Clairsville, Dave J. (Joni) Laslo of Martins Ferry, and Doug L. (Mary Ann) Laslo of Petaluma, CA, six grandchildren Christina Laslo and her husband Robert Haer, Daniel (Jessica) Laslo, III, Jenea (Mike) Shafer, David Laslo, Jr., Kristina (Adam) Camacho and Stephanie Laslo, five great grandchildren Jillian Laslo, Lawrence and Lexiss Camacho, Emily and William Laslo-Haer. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service, Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, at 1:00 PM at Grace Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. William O. Webster officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Presbyterian Church, 400 Hanover St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935. Arrangements by Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH.
