Daniel "Danny" O'Connell, 50, of San Francisco, California, passed away unexpectedly on July 23, 2026, in Pensacola, Florida.
Danny was born on October 28, 1975, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Bridgeport, Ohio, where he graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1993. Danny was a 2010 graduate of the Culinary Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He made his home in San Francisco with his devoted partner, Trinh Hoang.
Danny is survived by his partner, Trinh Hoang, of San Francisco, CA; his daughter, Krislyn Littleton, and her partner, Linor Minardo, and granddaughter Leilani, of Pensacola, FL; his mother, Clara O'Connell, of Pittsburgh, PA; his brother, John O'Connell Jr., and sister-in-law Wendy Dobrzynski O'Connell, of Riverview, FL; his brother, Ryan O'Connell, and Courtney Brothers O'Connell, of Martins Ferry, OH; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Danny worked for the City of San Francisco Recreation & Parks at Camp Mather, just outside Yosemite National Park. A trained chef, he was affectionately known as "Chef Dan" by family and friends, and his love of cooking was matched only by his love of sharing it with the people around him. He loved to travel, play billiards, and meet new people, always living life to the fullest. Danny had a smile that never quit and a heart bigger than life itself, lighting up every room he entered. He loved to joke around and laugh, and at heart, he was always a big kid.
Friends will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside, Ohio, on Friday, July 31, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, where services will be held at 2 pm. A celebration of life will follow that evening; location and time will be shared separately.
