David Bruce Hartley, 58, of Martins Ferry passed away at Wheeling Hospital on September 3, 2026. He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on May 24, 1968, a son of the late David B. Hartley and Linda Coen.

David was a Corrections Officer at Belmont County Correctional Institute. He was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher at the First Christian Church in Martins Ferry. David was very family-oriented and loved his church. He enjoyed attending sporting events of his grandchildren. He also loved riding motorcycles. David had no enemy and will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Hartley; father-in-law, Robert Ogden; and faithful companion, Ted.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Cindy Lee Hartley; children, Terri (Melvin) Williams, Janie (Mick) Strain; Rob Byard; Anthony Hartley, Joseph Hartley; grandchildren, Devyn, Maddie, Tharen, Malik, Lance, Brandon, Cedric, Tev’n, Nya, Norma Jean, Jude; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Steve Hartley, Michael Hartley; mother-in-law, Phyllis Ogden; sister-in-law, Becky (Bob) Anderson; brother-in-law, Mark (Sue) Ogden; and faithful companion, Rooney; plus several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 9am to the time of service at 11am at the First Christian Church, 710 S. Zane Hwy, Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935. Pastors Justin Hill and Rod Kasler will be officiating. Wilson Funeral Home, Heslop Chapel is honored to assist the family.
