David (Dave) Hostetler, 80, of Bridgeport, Ohio, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 31, 2017, at Wheeling Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born October 9, 1937, to the late Frank and June Hostetler.

He graduated from Martins Ferry High School. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bridgeport, Ohio, and a retired member of the Wolfhurst Volunteer Fire Department where he served in many positions, such as Fire Chief, Emergency Squad, etc. He was an electrician at the former Blaw- Knox Co, and retired from Wheeling Linen as assistant plant engineer.

He was a very talented carpenter, woodworker, gardener, and fisherman.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and helping all with many projects. He was proud of his children and grandchildren.

After retirement he and his wife, Barbara spent time traveling, spent winters in Florida, and took beach vacations with family.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara (Bever) Hostetler; his four children, David (Angela) Hostetler of Colerain, Karen (Dave) Ramey Bemus Point NY, Linda (Michael) Rose Charlottsville,VA, Timothy (Tracie) Hostetler of Bridgeport; sixteen grandchildren, Brady and Brett Hostetler, Rachel and Ryan Jacobsen, Sarah Ramey, Michael, Kyle, Jenna, Lucas, Sophia, Ethan, Olivia Rose, Jonathan, Danielle, Stephen, and Leandra Hostetler; three great- grandchildren, Leah, and Mason Jacobson, Stella Day; sister, Ellen Kilgore; brothers-and sisters-in-law, Judy and John Heilmeier, Tom and Debbie Bever; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends will be received Friday, November 3, 2017 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd. Bridgeport, OH 43912 where wake services will be at 2pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wolfhurst. Fr. John Mucha serving as celebrant.
