David Lee Sommers, 63 of Colerain, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was born on August 21, 1962, in Martins Ferry, the son of the late Paul E. and Lillian Ann (Stubock) Sommers.
Dave was a manager with the Tractor Supply Company before his illness. He was a proud graduate of St. John Central Catholic High School – Class of 1980. He enjoyed the game of tennis and would play as often as he could. He was die-hard fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Steelers, Pirates, and The Ohio State University Buckeyes; he was a true sports enthusiast. Dave was a devout member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Colerain, where he served as a Lector, Eucharist Minister and on several other church committees. It was by his deep faith that he drew strength and solace throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Christy Sommers, and his Godmother, Penny (Sullivan) Albaugh.
Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Mark (Kim) Sommers, of St. Clairsville, Nancy (Tony) Benedetto of Colerain, Bruce (Angie) Sommers of Bethlehem, WV, nieces, Stephanie (Tony) Palicka, Karen Sommers, Sarah Sommers, nephews, Christopher (Morgan) Sommers and Matthew Sommers, great-nephew, Benjamin Steven Sommers, Godfather Mike Dudzik of Florida and several cousins complete his family.
Family and friends will be received Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 2 – 8 pm, at the Wilson Funeral Home, Bridgeport Chapel, 920 National Rd., Bridgeport, Ohio 43912. Vigil Service will be at 3:30pm at the funeral home. Funeral Mass with Liturgy will be at 10 am on Monday, January 12, 2026, at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Colerain, Fr. Thomas Chillog officiating. Burial to follow at Holly Memorial Garden, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
The family would like to give a big "Thank You" to the LVAD Team at Ruby Hospital, for their dedication and care given to David. He loved them and they loved him.
