Deanna J. (Covington) Ewing, 73, of Florence, Martins Ferry, OH died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born Aug. 23, 1937 in Bridgeport, OH a daughter of the late Burton E. and Mabel V. (Jeffers) Covington. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Martins Ferry, past Vice-President of the Sunset Heights V.F.D. Auxiliary, and assisted with the Boys Scouts for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Melvin S. "Bud" Ewing and two sisters Jean Mayhugh and Shirley Nichols. Surviving are her sons Edward (Lisa) Ewing of Farmington, OH and Scott (Julia) Ewing of Florence, a brother Burton E. Covington, Jr. of Glendale, AZ, and six grandchildren: Jessica and Luke Ewing, Jacob Wodarcyk, Aaron, Mack, and Chelsea Ewing. Friends will be received Tuesday 6-9 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. Tom Marut officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Wake services will be held Tuesday at 8:30 pm in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Sunset Heights V.F.D.
