Donald C. Gregory, 80, of Martins Ferry, OH, died Monday, February 23, 2015 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born Oct. 5, 1934 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Victor and Irene (Soos) Gregory. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers; Victor and Fred Gregory. Surviving are his brother, Russell Gregory of Philadelphia, PA, his nephew, Victor Baerman of Shaker Heights, OH, his niece, Beth D'Onfro of Chagrin Falls, OH, and his caretakers, Rosalie Rigas and her son, Barry White both of Martins Ferry and Nancy Kadar of Martins Ferry. Don graduated from Martins Ferry High School in 1952, Kent State University in 1957 and received a Master's Degree from Michigan State University in 1961. He taught microbiology and physiology related classes for over 31 years at Shadyside High School, and also taught at North Wheeling Hospital School of Nursing, Ohio Valley School of Nursing and over ten years at W.V. Northern Community College, Wheeling, WV. Don also worked for many years at Wheeling Downs Race Track and Gaming Center. Don was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Ohio City Lodge #486 Free & Accepted Masons, Ohio River Valley Elks Lodge #231and M.F. Lions Club all of Martins Ferry. He was a former member of the Martins Ferry Board of Education. Family and friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Thursday, 6-8 pm. Friends will also be received Friday, February 27, 2015 from 10 am until time of services at 11:00 am at St. John's Lutheran Church, 40 N. 4th St., Martins Ferry, with Pastor Philip Van Dam officiating. Masonic Ritualistic Services will be held Thursday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to, St. John's Lutheran Church.
