Doris E. Craig 99, of St. Clairsville formerly of Lansing, died Tuesday June 24, 2014 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born January 22, 1915 in South Elmsall, England, a daughter of the late Claude and Gertrude (Elliott) Medd. She was a long time member of the Lansing United Methodist Church and choir, a member and past president of the Bridgeport Friendship Counsel, and the St. Clairsville Senior Citizens. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Clyde R. Craig in 1987, her step-father William Whitehouse, a brother Roy Whitehouse, and a sister Enid Stinson. Doris was adopted by her step-father's brother and his wife the late Thomas and Phoebe Whitehouse who raised her as their own. Siblings from that family were the late Harold, Cyril, and Leonard Whitehouse, Ethel Albus, Elsie Bowman, Florence Wood, and Mildred Rennels. Doris is survived by a son Bud Craig, and a daughter Jean Craig both of St. Clairsville, two grandsons Jason Craig of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Brent (Erica) Craig of Corning, NY, also many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road Brookside, on Thursday June 26, 2014 from 3-6 pm, and on Friday from 9 am till time of service at 11am, with Rev. John Jackson officiating. Interment in Belmont Memorial Park, St. Clairsville.
