Obituary

Dorothy V. Blazy, 87, a longtime resident of Mt. Pleasant, Ohio; formerly of Fairfax VA, passed away on August 29, 2016. She was born in The Plains, VA. During the 1940's Dorothy served as a legal secretary to the late Harry Carrico, Chief Justice, Virginia Supreme Court. In the 1950's and 1960's she served as a U.S. Army civilian in the Port Area Command, LaRochelle, France and in the Seine Area Command, Versailles, France. Upon her return to the United States Dorothy became a senior staff member in the Pentagon during the Vietnam War. Dorothy is best remembered for her expertise in genealogy; most notably her establishing her direct lineage to Charlemagne where she was accepted into the Order of Charlemagne. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution; The Colonial Dames; and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. With her father being of Native American descent, she finalized her lineage to Pocahontas. She had an incredible passion to save neglected and abused animals, which she nursed back to health on her beloved Greenwood Farm. She is preceded in death by her husband Louis J. Blazy, Jr., parents William David Burton and Iva Foley (Payne) Burton; siblings; R.D. and Helen Burton; Otho F and Dorothy Burton; Elmia L and Jack Bradley; brothers in law Carroll Beauchamp and Richard Giampa, Jr. She is survived by her sisters Sally Beauchamp and Nancy Giampa. She is also survived by of her children: Louis J. Blazy, III of Fairfax Station, VA; Cheryl Denise Williamson and husband Doug of Indianapolis, Indiana; Mark Edward and wife Michelle of Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey; Burton Randolph and wife Mina of Palm Desert, CA; and Gregory Stephen of Mt. Pleasant, Ohio. She has nine grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. There will be private service for immediate family at Wilson Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
