Dorothy M. (Jackson) Holmes, 90 of Jefferson St., Martins Ferry, OH died Wed., Aug. 8, 2007 at East Ohio Regional Hospital Long Term Care, Martins Ferry. She was born Jan. 10, 1917 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late Arch and Goldie (Banner) Jackson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Burial Holmes, Sr., a son Leroy Holmes, a granddaughter Karen Jordan, a grandson Stanley Travis Barnett, three brothers Harold, Charles, and Milford Jackson, and two sisters Charlotte Johnson and Thelma Thomas. Surviving are four sons Kenneth Holmes of Weirton, WV, Robert (Brenda) Holmes of Tampa, FL, Burial (Lonnie) Holmes. Jr. of Wheeling, WV, and Gerald Holmes of Martins Ferry, six daughters Donna Holmes, Clara Holmes-Dickerson, and Dorothy Mae Holmes all of Martins Ferry, JoAnn Atkins and Sandra Davis both of Detroit, MI, and Geraldine "Gerri" (John) Blair of Newport News, VA, a sister Regina Marshall of Cleveland, OH, sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Friends will be received Fri., 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Sat., Aug 11, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Rev. John Blair officiating.
