Dorothy M. (Shinsky) Zmavec, 89 of Yorkville, OH died Sunday, March 20, 2016 at her residence. She was born September 19, 1926 in Wheeling, WV a daughter of the late Anthony and Frances (Bidek) Shinsky. She retired in 1984 from Buckeye Local School District where she was an English Teacher. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Zmavec, brothers; John Shinsky and Bob Taucher and sisters; Sophie Chipkar, Helen Leshuk, Jennie Vierheller and Frances Kovalchie. Surviving are several nieces and nephews and her cat Sweet Pea. Friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Tuesday 6-8 pm where services will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 11:00 am with Rev. Thomas N. Thomas officiating. Entombment follows in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, WV. Memorial contributions may be made to the Amedisys, 52171 National Rd., East, Suite 1, St. Clairsville, OH 43950.
