Dorothy M. (Hastings) Thompson, 96, of Bridgeport, Ohio, passed Thursday August 29, 2013 at Park Health, St. Clairsville, Ohio. She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on March 12, 1917, a daughter of the late Harry W. and Kate Stroble Hastings. Dorothy was a member of the Lansing Methodist Church. She enjoyed crafts, ceramics, camping, cake decorating and helped organize the Lansing PTA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Thompson in 1971; a sister Katharine Hastings Coen; a brother William Hastings; a daughter-in-law Carol Thompson, a grandson Kirk Thompson; granddaughter Christine Buerkle. Dorothy is survived by a son William Thompson of St. Clairsville; daughters: Brenda (Ray) Weaverling of Helotes, Texas, Marian Kay Thompson of Flushing, Michigan, Ruth Ann (Walter) Josefczyk of St. Clairsville; nieces: Jo Ann and Karen, nephew Bill; ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great grandchildren; and her caregiver Shirley Oliver. Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside, Ohio, where services will be held Wednesday September 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Frank Givens, officiating.
