Earl A, Higgs, 78, of N. Zane Hwy., Martins Ferry, OH died May 10, 2007 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV. He was born May 24, 1928 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Robert and Susan (Tuttle) Higgs. He was retired from the formerly Picoma Industries, Martins Ferry. Earl was a member of the First Baptist Church, Martins Ferry where he was an ordained Deacon, Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge # 9, Wheeling, WV and in the Merchant Marines. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Roger, Orran and Robert W. Higgs and a sisters Norma Ware. Surviving are his wife Lucille (Talbert) Higgs, two sons Rob (Becky) Higgs of Burke Centre, VA and Gary (Barbie) Higgs of Ramsey, OH, two daughters Carol Higgs of Philadelphia, PA, and Regina (Tim) Sayre of Lusby, Md, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Friends will be received Sun., 12 - 5 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Mon., May 14, 2007 at 2:00 PM with Pastor John Oliver officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, OH. Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge # 9 will hold services on Sunday at 4:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 306 Locust St. Martins Ferry, OH 43935.
