Earl R. Smith, 62, of Colerain, OH, died Thursday, April 25, 2013 at his residence. He was born Oct.20, 1950 in Martins Ferry, OH a son of the late Richard H. and I. Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Marr) Smith. Earl retired from the Shoemaker Mine of Consol Energy Corp. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Debra J. (Nedved) Smith and his brother Frederick A. "Smitty" Smith. Surviving are his daughter Kelly (Donald) Buckley of Logan, OH, his son Jeff (Melanie) Smith of St. Clairsville, OH, grandchildren Sydney Buckley and Hayden and Elijah Smith and sisters; Betsy (Tim) Taylor of Bridgeport, OH and Teresa Dripcheck of Martins Ferry. Friends will be received at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Sunday, 4-7 pm where services will be held Monday, April 29, 2013 at 1:00 pm with Rev. William O. Webster officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart and Lung Assoc.
