Obituary

Edmund L. Hickenbotton, 84, of Bethesda, Ohio passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Barnesville Hospital. He was born March 4, 1927 in Morristown, Ohio, son of the late Alonzo Hickenbottom and Mildred McEndree Hickenbottom Russell. He was a heavy equipment operator for Consol Mining, attended Barnesville Church of the Nazarene, and was a member of the Bethesda Veteran of Foreign Wars. Edmund served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in Germany for three years, and later served in the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one great-grandchild; one brother, Robert Hickenbottom Painter; and one sister, Jean. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia Harris Hickenbottom; daughters, Barbara and Isaac Goodson of Belmont, Bonnie and Richard Wetmore of Zanesville; son, Mark and Rebecca Hickenbottom of Bethesda; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Ann (James) (Jim) Hanna of Orange Park, Florida, Mary Abel of Cadiz, Ohio, Merle (Ralph) Nester of Holloway, Ohio, Susie (Don) Gillotte of Logan, Ohio; brothers, Alonzo E. (Sonny) (Ruth Ann) Hickenbottom of Sangree Subdivision, South Carolina, Bradley (Brad) (Jane) Hickenbottom of Cadiz, Ohio, Gary Hickenbottom and Barb Hanson (Partner) of Jacksonville, Florida; several nieces and nephews; several great- nieces and great- nephews; and his best pal, his golden retriever, Bam Bam. Family and friends will be received, Friday 4 to 7 p.m., Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, 322 North Main Street, Bethesda, Ohio, where services will be conducted, Saturday 11 a.m. Pastor William G. Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Morristown, Ohio. Belmont County Council Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct a military service, Saturday 10:45 a.m., at the funeral home.
