Edward Smith Edward Smith, 80, formerly of Virginia St., Martins Ferry, OH and Sunset Heights, Bridgeport, OH died Sat., Apr. 13, 2002 at Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital, Wheeling. He was born May 15, 1921 in Maynard, OH a son of the late George Smith and Nellie Rice Smith Pyle. He was retired from the Martins Ferry Plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, a former member of VFW Post #3613 of Martins Ferry and Eagles Aerie #995 of Bridgeport, and was a veteran of the US Navy WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Helen Linn Smith, his second wife Virginia M. Linn Lewis Smith, and two brothers Roland and Theodore Smith. Surviving are a brother George Smith and his wife Judy of Ferryview, two sisters Julia Sykes and her husband Howard of Martins Ferry and Jenny Habig and her husband Roland of Senecaville, several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH Mon. 2-4 & 6-9 PM where services will be held Tue. at 1:00 PM with Minister Rod Kasler officiating. Burial follows in Linwood Cemetery, Blaine.
