"Ed" Laipple Jr.
March 7, 1947 – July 16, 2023
Edwin "Ed" William Laipple Jr. (76), of Bridgeport, Ohio, passed away at his home on July 16, 2023. Ed was born to Edwin and Mary (Neidert) Laipple, on March 7, 1947, Wheeling, WV. He was a 1965 graduate of Bridgeport High School where he was inducted onto the Wall of Fame for his 1963 Basketball Team Manager dedication. After graduating, Ed joined the United States Air Force, earned the rank of Staff Sergeant, and completed the Tactical Air Command Non-Commission Officer Leadership School and Apprenticeship program. He retired as a field supervisor from H.E. Neumann in 2007 after 32 years of unwavering service. He was awarded service technician of the year by LINC Service and selected as their advertising representative.
In his early years, Ed was an avid runner. He participated in the Boston, Pittsburgh, and Columbus marathons as well as countless others. He also enjoyed playing golf and euchre with his many cherished friends and was a loyal fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ed was a very active member of his community and was a part of the Saint Clairsville Eagles, Saint Clairsville Legion, and Bridgeport Lions Club as well as a lifelong member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #33, and the Family Life Ministry Center.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Dee, of 28 years, daughter Bethany Stafford of Martins Ferry, daughter Angel Cordle (Jeff) of Bridgeport, son James Bowlsbey (Traci) of Savannah, Ga. grandchildren Michael Bowlsbey (Michelle) of Virginia, Olivia Walton of West Liberty, Alexis Walton of Martins Ferry, Mason Walton of Hawaii, and great granddaughters Addyson and Averi Bowlsbey of Virginia. He is also survived by Brother Paul Laipple (Georgia) of The Villages, FL., Linda Ferns (Mike) of Wheeling, Peggy Cook (Jim) of Saint Clairsville, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, loyal customers, and friends.
He is predeceased in death by his parents Edwin and Mary Laipple, his son Christopher Laipple, and his nephew Paul Laipple Jr.
Ed was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend to everyone he knew. He was dedicated to helping and mentoring those in his life and heavily impacted the lives of many. He will be dearly missed by all.
Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home 920 national Road Brookside on Thursday July 20, 2023, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, where services will be held on Friday at 11 am, with Pastor Leonard Payne officiating, interment in Holly Memorial Gardens {Pleasant Grove. Full military graveside services will be held by the Belmont County Veterans Association. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House 841 Country Club Drive, Morgantown, West Virginia 26505.
