Obituary

ELIZABETH "LEE" BOWMAN, 90, of Brookside, died Friday, July 4, 2008 at her home. She was born June 15, 1918 in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late George and Nellie (Bendekgey) Gonot. Lee was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Bridgeport where she was a Eucharistic Minister, an usher as well as a member of the Catholic Daughters. She was given the St. Anthony's Day Award by her parish and was a recipient of an award of being a Distinguished Graduate of St. Anthony Grade School. She was the manager of the Christian Friendship Council food pantry in Bridgeport and was a member of the Eastern Ohio Housing Development Board of Directors. She was also honored as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Bridgeport Rotary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John "Jack" Bowman in 1986; two brothers Fred and Ed Gonot; a sister: Nell Fitzpatrick, and a son in-law Larry Ickler. Lee is survived by four sons Jack and his wife Beth of Columbus, Edward and his wife Paula of Colerain, Bob and his wife Rita of Shadyside and Jeff and his wife Frances of Paris, France; three daughters Georgia Stahl and her husband Larry of Orwigsburg, PA, Sue Ickler of Lansing and Cindy Pelley and her husband Pat of Harrisburg, PA; three brothers Tom Gonot and his wife Mary of Colerain, Louis and Joe Gonot both of Bridgeport; four sisters Jean Baker of Lansing, Marge Trouten and her husband Floyd, and Rose Weisal both of Brookside and Pat Herzberg and her husband Lou of Columbus; 21 grandchildren , 16 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. On June 15, she celebrated her 90th birthday with a party attended by family and friends. Visitation will be Monday 6 to 8 p.m. and also on Tuesday 2 to 8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside, where Vigil services will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Wednesday July 9, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Bridgeport with Monsignor Thomas Petronek officiating, assisted by Rev. David Demarest. Interment will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Blaine.
