Elizabeth Friend Elizabeth (Miller) Friend, 97, formerly of Bridgeport, went to be with the Lord, Mon., Dec. 1, 2003 at East Ohio Regional Hospital Long Term Care, Martins Ferry, OH. She was born Jan. 1, 1906 in Brookside, OH a daughter of the late Jacob C. and Lucy (Imer) Miller. She was a member of the former Bridgeport Pentecostal Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William W. Friend, Dec. 21, 1954, four sons James E., Virgil A., Donald D., and William W. Friend, Jr.,a daughter Betty Lou Friend, and three brothers William C., August, and Ray A. Miller. Surviving are a son Robert E. (Lois) Friend of Martins Ferry, three daughters Martha Jane Friend of Martins Ferry, Suzanne (James) Solomon of Bridgeport, and Mary (Harry) Scammell of Brookside, nineteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren. Friends will be received Wed. 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Thurs., Dec. 4, 2003, at 11:00 AM with Denver Saltkield officiating. Burial follows in Linwood Cemetery, Blaine, OH. The family wishes to thank the staff of East Ohio Regional Hospital Long Term Care for the dedication and loving care they provided Elizabeth.
