Elizabeth M. "Libby" (Jones) Ashton, 85, of Jefferson St. Martins Ferry, OH died Sunday, December 19, 2010 in Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine, OH. She was born July 10, 1925 in Pierce, WV a daughter of the late Lawton Jones and Minnie (Olden) Jones. She was an employee of the former Select Markets, Martins Ferry. Libby was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry, OH. She was also an avid sports fan. Her favorite teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers, LA Lakers, Wheeling Nailers, Martins Ferry Purple Riders, and the WV Mountaineers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her step-mother Freda Dumire, husband Floyd Ashton, a brother Robert Jones, and a sister Delores McFadden. Libby adored her children and she is survived by a daughter Cindy (Edson) Jenkins of Bellefontaine, OH, a son Philip Ashton of Toledo, OH, a sister Frances Evick of Martins Ferry, four grandchildren Keren Redd of Hilliard, OH, Christopher Jenkins serving in the US Army South Korea, Whitney Jenkins of Bellefontaine, OH, and Gabrielle Ashton of Toledo, OH, and one great grandchild Kaitlyn Redd and one expected in April. Friends will be received Tuesday 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010 at 10:00 am with Rev. David Stammerjohn officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 400 Walnut St. Martins Ferry, OH.
