Ella M. (Frantz) McDowell, 79, of Martins Ferry, OH died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011 at Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, WV. She was born Mar. 6, 1931 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late Edwin and Jeannette (McKain) Frantz. Ella was the retired owner/operator of the former McDowell Locksmith Service of Martins Ferry. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Martins Ferry and an inactive honorary member of Gamma Chapter of Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority. She was a past Worthy Matron of the former Emera Chapter of Eastern Star and a past Mother Advisor of the Order of Rainbows. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband James Swint Morriss, her second husband Robert H. McDowell, Jr., a son Dan D. McDowell, five brothers Will, Larry, Jack, Charles, and Floyd Frantz, and two sisters Margaret Pate and Anna Bodnar. Surviving are her daughter Judy (John) Morriss Flynn of Philippi, WV and a son Robert P. McDowell of Logan, WV, grandchildren Christopher (Nicole) Flynn, Mary Flynn (Brian) Pap, John H. (Kristan) Flynn, Jr., and Sharon Flynn, and great grandchildren Kathleen and Thomas Flynn. Memorial services will be held for Ella at a time to be announced at a later date.
