Ellen M. (Kohlhaase) Gunnish, 84, of Martins Ferry, OH died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at home. She was born Aug. 29, 1926 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late Herman E. and Gertrude E. (Pitzschler) Kohlhaase. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Martins Ferry and a former member of O.P.A.L.S. and Keenagers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband George W. Gunnish, and a daughter Linda J. Mayle. Surviving are her daughter Janice (Paul) Smith of Shadyside, OH, grandchildren Michelle Mayle Sanders of Martins Ferry, Justin Smith of Shadyside, and Michael Mayle of Martins Ferry, and great grandchildren Rachel Ferrio, and Steven, Brandon, and Dylan Mayle. Friends will be received Friday, 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH, where services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 11:00 am with Pastor Philip K. Van Dam officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Condolences to the family may be made by signing the guest book at the top of this page.
