Obituary

ELMER "JACK" ROUSE, 87, of Sunset Heights, died Tuesday, January 1, 2007 at his home. He was born February 24, 1920 in Matins Ferry, the son of the late Elmer and Bertha O'Dell Rouse. Jack was a retired plant foreman with James H. Bean's Foundry in Martins Ferry. He was a member of the Lancaster Chapel Methodist Church and was a member of the Sunset Heights Fire Department for over 35 years where he served as their Chief for 6 years. He was a member of the Bridgeport Eagles and was a veteran of the United States Army during WWII. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife Alice May Rouse; three brothers Elwood, Emil "Bud" and Kenneth Rouse; three sisters Ruth Blumenauer, Leatha Shrodes and Evelyn Padyjesky; a grandson Jody Rouse and two great granddaughters. Jack is survived by three sons, Jack and his wife Vicki of South Carolina, Donald of Bridgeport and Edward and his wife Maureen of Bridgeport; two daughters Alice Davis and her husband Ira of Blaine and Alretta Bennett and her husband Edward of Bridgeport; 21 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 am with Reverend Donald Cordery officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove. Full military services will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
