Elmer Eugene "Gene" Sherman, 77, Of Bridgeport, OH passed away October 13, 2016 at Ohio Valley Medical Center. He was born July 6, 1939 in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Charles "Chuck" Sherman and the late Vonda (Church) Byrd. He was a retired guard at the Wheeling Dollar Bank. He was also retired from the Army 1st Calvary Division, Fort Meed, TX. He served in the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Charlotte Baranski and Gertrude "Trudy" Fedorke. Elmer is survived by his sister, Nancy Myers of Charleston, WV; his step-sister, Laura (Gary) Leshuk of Wheeling, WV; and Aunt, Gwen (Joe) Krehlik of St. Clairsville, OH.
