Elsie E. (Thorngate) Smith, 80, of Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH died Sun., Mar. 6, 2005 at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, WV. She was born Mar. 19, 1924 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late Ernest and Irma (Green) Thorngate. She was a member of the First U. Methodist Church, Martins Ferry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband George Smith in 1982 and a brother Robert Thorngate. Surviving are a son David Scarbrough and his wife Diane of Columbus, OH, a step-son James D. Smith and his wife Beth of Washington, DC, and a granddaughter Danielle Scarbrough. Friends will received Tues. 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Wed., Mar. 9, 2005 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Van D. Fisher officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
