Turkal, Elvira (Babe) 93 of Dillonvale, Ohio died Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, WV. She was born July 12, 1917 in Dillonvale, Ohio, the daughter of the late Patsy and Lena Zambon Persiani. Elvira was a 1935 graduate of Dillonvale High School. She was a member of the Dillonvale Presbyterian Church. In her lifetime she was active in the Dillonvale Senior Nutrition Center, the Dillonvale American Legion Women's Bowling League, OPALS, the Dillonvale AARP, Jefferson County Community Action Council, Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), the Dillonvale American Legion McCook Post 529 Women's Auxiliary, and a 74 year Charter Member of the Dillonvale Eagles Auxiliary 1572. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Frank (Hank) Turkal Jr. and her brothers Aldo and Frank Persiani. She is survived by her daughters Carol (Mario) Banal of Colerain, Ohio and Deborah (Gregory) DeFilippo of Tiltonsville, Ohio and two grandchildren, Sean Banal of Columbus, Ohio and Janessa DeFilippo of Tiltonsville, Ohio. Family and friends will be received at Wilson Funeral Home, 154 Second Street, Dillonvale, Ohio on Saturday, May 28 from 4PM to 8PM and 11AM until time of services on Sunday. Funeral Services will be celebrated Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 1:00PM with the Reverend Michael Lenno. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
