Obituary

Elwin L. ""Gus"" Bell, 80, of Rayland, died Wednesday March 25, 2009 at Trinity East Hospital, Steubenville, OH. He was born June 2, 1928 in Warren Center, PA, the son of the late Charles F. and Verna Allyn Bell. Elwin graduated from Warren Consolidated High School in 1947. He was a retired employee of Picoma Industries, Martins Ferry. He was a member of the Rayland Presbyterian Church and one of the original members of the Rayland Fire Department, along with a member of AARP. Also preceding Elwin in death was a brother Forrest ""Red"" and a sister Bonnie Bell. Elwin is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Catherine Tanley Bell and three sons, Alan (Janet) of Rayland, Tim (Barb) of Grove City, OH, and Gary (Jenny) of Mt. Pleasant, six grandsons, Tim (Angie), Bill, Brian, Clayton, Chris and Cavin, two granddaughters, Tammy (Mike) Wilt and Kristin Bell, two great grandchildren, Madison and Mason Wilt, three brother-in-laws, Rev. Edgar (Carol), Jim and Ben Tanley and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 on Friday at Wilson Funeral Home, 102 Main Street, Tiltonsville, OH. Services will be on Saturday at 10 am at the Meadowbrook Church of God, Rayland, with Rev. Marvin Schooler and Rev. Edgar Tanley officiating. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rayland Methodist Church, Rayland Presbyterian Church, or the Meadowbrook Church of God.
