Elwood A. "Doc" Orzolek, 85, of Martins Ferry, OH died Monday, June 22, 2009 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV. He was born Aug. 14, 1923 in Dillonvale, OH a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Andreck) Orzolek. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic, Polish National Alliance, and American Legion Post 38 all of Martins Ferry. "Doc" was a veteran of the US Navy WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife America "Mae" (Diaz) Orzolek, seven brothers Charles, Edward, John, Frank, Stanley, William, and Joseph Orzolek, and five sisters Helen, Ann, and Rose Orzolek, Josephine Vacha, and Catherine Weing. Surviving are his son Ben (Pam) Orzolek of Martins Ferry, his daughter Charlene (Don) McIntosh of New Philadelphia, OH, and five grandchildren Brittany and Zach Orzolek, and Stephanie, Kelly Jo, and Steve McIntosh. Friends will be received Friday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. Thomas A. Magary officiating. Burial follows in St. Mary's Cemetery, Martins Ferry. Rosary devotions will be recited Friday at 3:00 pm followed Wake services at 7:30 pm in the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the Belmont Co. Council of the V. F. W. at the funeral home.
