Emily (Dragon) Mitchell, 87, of N. 8th St., Martins Ferry, OH died Sunday, May 29, 2005 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born Apr. 20, 1918 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late Samuel and Fevorina (Euga) Dragon. She was the retired owner/operator of the former Emily Beauty Shop of Martins Ferry. Emily was a graduate of the former Riggs Lemar & Stuten Schools of Cosmetology and a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Life Giving Fountain of Martins Ferry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John C. Mitchell in 1965, her son Jonathan Mitchell, a brother Sam Dragon, and a sister Victoria Hodgkiss. Surviving are a sister Virginia Dragon Mennillo of Warwood, WV, several nieces and nephews including Patty (Rob) Barnett of Roswell, GA, Cathy (George) Toundas of Sarasota, FL, Connie (Tom) Geary of Wintersville, OH, great nieces & nephews Kimberly Barnett and Jason Toundas, , and good friends Madlyn Wilson Tomish, Theresa Suto, and Leeann Cook. Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral services will be held Wed., June 1, 2005 at 1:00 PM at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Life Giving Fountain with Rev. Menelaos Papageorgiou officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry. Trisagion services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Life Giving Fountain, 314 N. 5th St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935.
