Emma J. (Tice) Sorge, 57, of Martins Ferry, OH died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008 at East Ohio Regional Hospital Long Term Care, Martins Ferry. She was born Nov. 29, 1950 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late Charles F. Tice, Sr. and Wilma H. (Chambers) Tice. Emma was the Meter Maid for the Martins Ferry Police Dept. and worked part-time for Wesbanco Arena, Wheeling, WV. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church of Martins Ferry. Emma was a member of the Betty Zane Days Steering Committee, the former Strawberry Festival Committee, the former Eagles Aerie #456, and a former officer of the Martins Ferry Fire Dept. Auxiliary. Emma was past president of the Martins Ferry Football Moms, a founding member of the Basketball Parents, and a member of the 100 year football committee and the Martins Ferry Booster Club. Surviving are her husband George P. Sorge, a son George P. (Amie) Sorge, II of Galloway, OH, two brothers George (Linda) Tice of Jacobsburg, OH and Charles Fred (Marlene) Tice, Jr. of Wheeling, WV, a sister Cleo (Sherman) Lollathin of Bridgeport, OH, and several nephews and nieces. Friends will be received at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH, Tuesday 6-8 pm and Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 400 Hanover St., Martins Ferry, at 11:00 am with Rev. William O. Webster officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry. A final note from Emma: "Thank you to all my friends during my recent illness." Elders of the Church will hold services Wednesday at 7:00 pm followed by Martins Ferry Fire Dept. services at 7:30 pm.
