Erma V. (Cika) Canter Best, 84, of Louisville, OH, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH and Fishers, IN, died Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Oakhill Manor Care Center, Louisville. She was born Apr. 20, 1924 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late John and Emerencia (Kadie) Cika. She retired from East Ohio Regional Hospital and was a former member of the Betty Zane Days Committee both of Martins Ferry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Raymond Canter, Sr., her second husband Albert Best, three brothers Ernest, Frank, and John Cika, and two sisters Elaine Vargo and Emma Koontz. Surviving are two daughters Nancie R. Canter of Canton, OH and Deborah (Jack) Hill of Martins Ferry, a son Raymond (Georgeann) Canter, Jr. of Martins Ferry, three sisters Ethel J. McDiffitt of Martins Ferry, Edna Kenzora of Cleveland, and Irene Dobbs of Canton, five grandchildren Jonathan Hill, Kara Kushmeder, Camille Petrakis, R. J. Canter and Kylie Canter, and a great grandchild Sophia Petrakis. Friends will be received Thursday, 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Friday, July 25, 2008 at 10:00 am with Rev. Van D.
