Ernest R. "Ernie" Hill, Sr., 85, of Martins Ferry, OH died on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Belmont Manor, St. Clairsville, OH. He was born on September 26, 1930 in Martins Ferry, the son of the late Ernest and Edna Hendershot Hill. Ernie was a graduate of Martins Ferry High School and a veteran of the U. S. Navy. Ernie was a retired State Manager and Vice President of Tele-Communications, Inc. He was a Past President and member of Martins Ferry City Council, and a retired member of the Martins Ferry Emergency Squad and Fire Department. He is a member of the American Legion #38. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sonia Klihoff Hill, two sisters; Betty Henry and Jean Watson. Surviving are his son Ernest R. "Ron" (Dianna Vargo) Hill, Jr. of Martins Ferry; sister, Shirley Archer of Martins Ferry; brother, Thomas Hill of St. Clairsville, OH; sister-in-law Olga Battistelli of Martins Ferry; grandson, Ernest R. (Tonya) Hill, III, of Powell, OH; and great grandchildren; Maddox and Ryder Hill. Friends will be received at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH Monday, November 30, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. with Elder James Agnew officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
