Eugene O. Barney Eugene O. Barney, 76, of N. 7th Street, Martins Ferry died Thurs. May 30, 2002 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, OH. He was born Feb. 11, 1926 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Eugene O. and Nellie L. Gundling Barney. He was retired from the former Picoma Industries , and also from the maintenance department of the Martins Ferry City School System, a member of the Alert Engine Company, Bulltown Reunion Association, Mackey Community Center, V.F.W. Post #3613 and American Legion Post #38 all of Martins Ferry, and a veteran of U.S. Navy WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Betty Cecconi and Jean Barney. Surviving are his wife Joan Ott Barney of Martins Ferry, a son Gene Barney of Pittsburgh, PA, and a sister Eleanor Barney of Martins Ferry. Friends will be received Sat. 7-9 PM and Sun. 12-3 & 7-9 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Mon. at 11:00 AM with Rev. William O. Webster and Rev. Joseph Sanders officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, OH.
