Eugene A. Schaal 93 of St. Clairsville passed away Wednesday December 30, 2020 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born July 15, 1927 in Martins Ferry, a son of the late Henry and Matilda (Erby) Schaal. He was a retired crane man for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Yorkville Plant, a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church Brookside, where he was a former deacon. He was a member of the VFW, the former Bridgeport Eagles, and the St. Clairsville Rotary. He was a graduate of Superior School of Auctioneering, he was a veteran in the US Navy in WWII, also in the Army in Korea. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Caroline Rheem, Helen Delman, Edward, Fredrick, Arthur, William and Ralph Schaal. Gene is survived by his sons Jan Schaal of Bridgeport, and Lynn Schaal of St. Clairsville, 2 grandchildren Tyler, and Brandon Schaal, brothers Donald Schaal of Rayland and James Schaal of Cleveland. Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside on Monday January 4, 2021 from 11 am till time of service at 1 pm, with Pastor Nancy DeStefano officiating, interment in Weeks Cemetery Bridgeport.
