Eva C. (Richard) Whiteman, 95, of Colerain Pike, Martins Ferry, OH died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born Dec. 23, 1912 in Wheeling, WV a daughter of the late Charles Christian Richard, Sr. and Eva Marie (Loeffler) Richard. She was retired from the Martins Ferry City School District having served as a manager and cook at the former Steeple Valley School. Eva was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the former Eagles Aerie #456 Ladies Auxiliary, and a past member of the Senior Citizens and the Garden Club all of Martins Ferry. She was a proud member of the Class of 1931 old Wheeling High School. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Norval Beryl Whiteman in 1977, a daughter Sandra K. Moore in 2004, two brothers; Charles Christian Richard, Jr. and Irvin Richard, and three sisters; Mary Margaret Hoffman, Louise Eva Schaefer and Mae Hercules. Surviving are two daughters; Linda Cooey and her husband Randy of Bethany, WV and Nancy Nixon and her husband Danny of Martins Ferry, a son Gary A. Whiteman and his wife Sandy of Pleasant Grove, OH, seven grandchildren; Dennis Bryan Moore of Hilliard, OH, Bill Cooey of North Charleroi, PA, Crissa Cooey of Morgantown, WV, Bryan Nixon and his wife Robin of Colliers, WV, Brent Nixon of Martins Ferry, Celeste Clennan and her husband Robert of Colorado Springs, CO, and Leah Sparks of Massillon, OH, six great grandchildren; Cody and Hannah Moore, Danielle and Jayden Nixon, and Kamryn and Kendyl Sparks, several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH, Tuesday 6-8 PM and Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. Bill N. Lawrence officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove. Deacons of the church will hold services Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
