Evelyn J. (Brown) Pickford McLaughlin, 76, of Carlisle St., Martins Ferry, OH died Sun., Oct. 1, 2006 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born Sept. 3, 1930 in Flushing, OH a daughter of the late Lawson and Cora (Hoffman) Brown. She was a retired assisted director for the Martins Ferry Public Library and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Martins Ferry. Evelyn was given a special recognition by Representative Charles A. Wilson, Jr, House District #99 and Larry Householder, Speaker of the House of Representatives on her retirement. At that time she was saluted as one of Ohio's finest citizens. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Harold W. Pickford and her second husband Linsz McLaughlin,and two brothers Jerry and Robert Brown. Evelyn was a loving mother and grandmother to her son Thomas (Laura) Pickford, of Wellington, FL, a grandson Alex Pickford, and she is also survived by a very dear friend Bonnie McConnell. Friends will be received Tues., 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Weds., Oct 4, 2006 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Thomas N. Thomas officiating. Burial follows in Rock Hill Cemetery, Flushing, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the Martins Ferry Public Library, 20 James Wright Place, Martins Ferry, OH 43935.
