Evelyn M. (Patterson) Bazar of Scotch Ridge, Martins Ferry, OH, passed away at home on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at the age of 92. She was born in Tuscarawas County, Uhrichsville, OH on January 1, 1928. Her parents were Rose Mary (Spendal) Patterson and William John Patterson.

She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas V. Bazar, mother of Kathleen (Bazar) Tomlinson, sister to Elsie Sabo, aunt to Marlene Sabo, sister-in-law and aunt to the large Bazar family.

Evelyn was a graduate of Fairpoint Grade School and St. Clairsville High School. While in high school she worked as a baby sitter and housekeeper. Then she was employed with Hazel Atlas Glass Company, Wheeling, WV, and was a member of the AFL Glass Bottle Blowers Association.

Evelyn was a member of the Grange in early years, an assistant Girl Scout Leader, a member of a local knitting club, and was Catholic by faith.

As a devoted housewife, Evelyn excelled at cooking, baking, and canning, and kept an immaculate house. She assisted with farm duties, handled the farm finances and farm income tax preparation.

Evelyn was an excellent teacher to her daughter Kathy, and they shared a passion for sewing, embroidering, crocheting, and shopping together. During her later years, Evelyn and husband Tom enjoyed Rummy and Rack-O games.

Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH will provide visitation on Sunday 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with funeral services on Monday, October 5, 2020, at 11 a.m. with Minister Rod Kasler officiating. A brief graveside service will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 73360 Pleasant Grove, Pleasant Grove, OH.
