BURKHEAD, Everett Bruce, 72, of Emerson, Ohio, died Thursday December 15, 2011 at Acuity Specialty Hospital, Bellaire, Ohio. He was born in Fernwood, Ohio on January 9, 1939, a son of the late Forest Kenneth and Ora Starcher Burkhead. He was a retired employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel; a member of the Dillonvale American Legion; and a U.S. Army Veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Louann Shepard. Everett is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mildred Ann Black Burkhead; two daughters: Barbara Jean Phillips of Emerson, Amy Lynn Beavers (Jerry) of Martins Ferry, Ohio; a son Alex Joseph Burkhead of Emerson; two sisters: Louise Boyd (Carl) of Mt. Pleasant, Ohio and Carol Sefsick of Adena, Ohio; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation to celebrate Everett's life on Monday December 26, 2011 from 12 - 4p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 154 Second Street, Dillonvale, Ohio, with Pastor Scott Hazelton, officiating. Military Honors will be provided by Dillonvale American Legion, McCook Post #529 at the funeral home at 2:00p.m. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
