Obituary

Florence Ricca Stenger, 91, of Belmont, Ohio passed on to her eternal reward on January 14, 2013, comfortably at her home, surrounded by her children. She was born in Clarington, Ohio on November 15, 1921, daughter of the late Ed Ricca (Kernen) Lude. Florence was a member of Assumption Church, Barnesville, Ohio. She graduated from Clarington High School and went on to graduate from the Ruth Brandt School of Nursing in Martins Ferry, Ohio. She retired from her nursing career from Barnesville Hospital and Barnesville Medical Center, with 60 years of care giving. During her lifetime, she enjoyed gardening, farm life, travel, her numerous associations with clubs and memberships throughout the area and most of all, spending time with her extended family and friends. Florence was a past president of the Assumption Catholic Women's Club, past president of Lay Deanery Council, past president of the Barnesville Hospital Sycamore Twig, member of the Barnesville Hospital Board of Trustees for several years, lifetime Red Cross blood donor, 4-H leader for area youth, Belmont County Farm Bureau member, volunteer nurse and care giver for Hospice of Wheeling, Rubber neck tour host, and American Cancer Society drive member. Florence was also a host mother of two foreign exchange students. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Joseph W. Stenger; sisters, Viola Marshall and Dorothy Shook; and her eldest son, Robert F. Stenger. Florence is survived and celebrated by nine children, three sons and six daughters. They include, Mary (Jim) Gregor of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Judy (Robert) Kidd of Flushing, Ohio, Joanne (Tim) Cline of Hudson, Florida, Theresa (Jerry) Huck of Fleming, Ohio, Joe (Karen) Stenger of Barnesville, Ohio, Ed (Nancy) Stenger of Belmont, Ohio, David Stenger of Westerville, Ohio, Ann (Ike) Pierce of Sycamore, Pennsylvania, and Kathy (Dan) Warfield of Jerusalem, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Sue Stenger of Belmont, Ohio; 31 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. The family will receive guests, Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Kelly Kemp Braido & Patron Funeral Home, 702 East Main Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Private interment will be at the convenience of Florence's family.
