FRANCIS "BUZZ" MARCINKO, 80, of Mingo Junction, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at his home. He was born January 17, 1928 in Mingo Junction, the son ofthe late Andrew and Mary Blazonic Marcinko. Buzz was in the Army Air Corp from 1945 to 1947. He was a member of the United States Army Paratroopers 2nd Battalion Riders with 3 years of combat in Korea. He then moved to Nevada in 1947 and worked in the gaming industry in Reno, Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Vema Sprague Marcinko; a brother Andrew Marcinko and two sisters Mary Gaydosh and Agnes DiPillo. Buzz is survived by a daughter Melissa Cooke and her husband Marty of Mingo Junction; a son Michael of New York; two brothers Joseph of Mingo Junction and John of Laurinburg, NC; a sister Sue Ciafardone of Mingo Junction; and two grandchildren Cody and Katie Cooke. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 pm until the time the funeral services at 7 pm at Blaschalk-Wilson Funeral Home, 115 Union Ave., Mingo Junction. Interment will take place at a later date in Las Vegas.
