"Whitey" Johnson
February 5, 1940 – February 9, 2025
Francis William "Whitey" Johnson, 85, of Lansing, passed away, Sunday, February 9th, 2025, in Wheeling Hospital. He was born on February 5, 1940, in Martins Ferry, a son of the late Clyde and Julia (Hudock) Johnson. Whitey was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, served his country in the U.S. Army, and retired from Sarver Paving Company, Ashland. He was also a member of the Foresters Club, the Lansing Sportsman Club, the Cave Club, and was an avid Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Ohio State fan.
He is survived by his two sons, Brian (Chasity) Johnson and Jeffrey Johnson; a grandson, Andrew Johnson; a sister, Judith (Jerry) Manukin; a brother, Timothy (Charlotte) Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
Whitey was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna (Zusack) Johnson; five brothers, Joseph "Jr", Phillip, Lincoln, Robert "Bobby", and Vincent "Jerry" Johnson; and four sisters, Lillian Capalingo, Priscilla Dalto, Dorothy Kalo, and Melba "Isabelle" Robinson.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 am in the funeral home with Father John Mucha officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville. Military Honors will be provided by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
