Frank Fregiato, 90, of St. Clairsville, OH, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009. He was born May 15, 1919 in Sicily, Italy a son of the late Ambrose and Angela (Campisi) Fregiato. Frank worked in the former Gaylord Coal Mine and Laughlin Steel Mill. He was the owner/operator of the former Fregiato's Food Liner of Aetnaville, OH for 26 years. Frank retired from the Martins Ferry Post Office with 33 years service. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Martins Ferry and a veteran of the U.S. Navy WWII, where he served in the Pacific for six years. Frank was a life member of: Mother of God Council #1421 Knights of Columbus where he held the 4th Degree; IOOF Lodge; American Postal Workers Union; former V.F.W. Post 3613 all of Martins Ferry; and the American Legion and former Eagles of Bridgeport. Frank was an avid amateur radio operator extra class rating, and a member of the Tri-State Radio Amateur Club. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Rose Campiti and Janet Caprita. Surviving are his wife of 60 years Mary C. (Baldassarre) Fregiato, a son Frank A. (Cynthia) Fregiato and a daughter Angela M. Bentley both of St. Clairsville, four grandchildren Tessa Keyes, Dustin Fregiato, Alison Bentley and Matt Bentley, a great grandson Dominic Keyes, and a brother Thomas Fregiato of Steubenville, OH. Family and friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. Thomas A. Magary officiating. Entombment follows in St. Mary's Cemetery, Martins Ferry. Rosary devotions will held Wednesday at 3:00 pm followed by Wake services at 7:30 pm both in the funeral home.
