Frank B. Smenda, 85, of Taylor Ln., St. Clairsville, OH died Tue., July 13, 2004 at Crestview Health Care Center, St. Clairsville. He was born Oct. 6, 1918 in Adena, OH a son of the late Mike and Mary (Brifzcek) Smenda. He was retired from the former Saginaw Mining Co. of St. Clairsville. Frank was a member of American Legion Post #38 and Elks Lodge #895 both of Martins Ferry, OH, V.F.W. Post #5356 of St. Clairsville, was a veteran of the U.S. Navy WWII and a Catholic. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Irma (Mate) Smenda, two sisters Julia Bernatovicz and Ann Kudlacz and two brothers Adolph and Joseph Smenda. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Friday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Sat., July 17, 2004 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clairsville, OH with Rev. H. Christopher Foxhoven officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Wake services will be held Friday at 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
