Freda A. (Stalder) Green, age 81, of Martins Ferry, OH and St. Clairsvile, OH, passed away on March 5, 2019 in Zanesville, Ohio. She was born on July 30, 1937 in Sardis, Ohio, the daughter of the late Homer and Gladys (Wohnhas ) Stalder.

Freda graduated from Martins Ferry High School and Ohio University.

She was a retired Elementary school teacher for Martins Ferry City Schools.

Freda, known affectionately as "Grandma" or "Grandma Fred" to her grandchildren, enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family. She was a proud graduate of Martins Ferry High School. Freda loved participating in alumni events and spending time with her many long-time friends.

Freda is survived by daughters, Lisa (John) Hoffman of Columbus, OH and Lori (Tim) Thacker of Zanesville, OH, grandchildren, Jocelyn and Dan Hoffman, and Tommy and Nettie Thacker; sister Glenda; nephew, Jeffrey and niece, Sara.

Freda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 31 years, Thomas (Tom) Green, her parents, brother, Gary Stalder, and long-time companion, Jack Waugaman.

Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, where a brief service will be held in the mausoleum chapel, the Rev. Thomas Jones presiding.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may by made to Genesis Hospice Care (Morrison House), 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
