Obituary

Freeman Holmes Jr. 76 of Colerain-Mt. Pleasant Road, Dillonvale died Tuesday June 15, 2010 at Ohio Valley Medical Center Wheeling. He was born July 14, 1933 in Viola WV, a son of the late Freeman Holmes Sr. and Thelma (Grall) Holmes. He was a retired employee of Wheeling-Pitts Steel Martins Ferry Plant with 44 ½ years of service, a member of Lancaster Chapel United Methodist Church Sunset Heights, a veteran of the US Army in Korea, a member of the Belmont Lodge #16 F&AM St Clairsville, where he was also a Past Master, 32 degree Scottish Rite, and the El Tor Gratto Wheeling. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Eugene Holmes. Freeman is survived by his wife of 55 years Dorothy Jean (Conway) Holmes, a son John Holmes and his wife Tammy of Dillonvale, a brother Donald Holmes and his wife Pat of Albuquerque NM, three sisters Eleanor Vanaman and her husband Arnold of Sunset Heights, Helen Dennis and her husband Larry of Martins Ferry, and Norma Rethy and her husband Robert of Fort Wayne Ind., two grandchildren John Charles Holmes and Brandi Kuri, two great grandchildren Adam Siles and Ryan Eli Kuri. Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside Thursday June 17th, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm with Masonic Services at 7 pm, funeral services will be held Friday at 1 pm with the Reverend James Hildebrand officiating.
