Gabriel C. Mackey, 93, of Florence, Martins Ferry, OH died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Shadyside Care Center, Shadyside, OH. He was born Apr. 21, 1919 in Harpersville, OH a son of the late David and Mary (Horvath) Mackey. He was retired from the Consol Mining Company and a Presbyterian by faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Lucille M. (Robinson) Mackey, two brothers David and Ernest Mackey, four sisters Mary Bejczi, Margaret Sambuco, Theresa Pezel, and Katie Fodor. Surviving are his wife Elsie (Lovell) Mackey, a son David Mackey of Colerain, OH, two daughters Mary A. (Jeff Hewitt) Paczewski of Valley Grove, WV, and Dorothy (Tim) McElwain of Wheeling, WV, eight grandchildren Kari Steinbacher, Kelly Ullom, Stacy Paczewski, David Mackey, Jr., Kathy Saus, Kristy Tennant, Kellie Mackey, and Katie Roth, and eighteen great grandchildren. Friends will be received Friday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11:00 am with Pastor Michael Palmer officiating.
